Toll Roads

Some of Austria's motorways require the payment of a toll. One such motorway is that between Salzburg and Rauris. The toll is monitored electronically, requiring you to purchase a "Vignette" prior to travelling along the road. Failure to have paid in advance may result in a fine being levied if you are caught. The Vignettes can be purchased in most petrol stations (including those on the motorways in Germany). A small sticker is provided for fixing on to your windscreen. It costs approximately 8 Euros for 10 days use, but they can be purchased for individual days.
